With an open invitation to all, a delicious Thanksgiving meal was served to over 70 on a bright, magical day at Meher Mount in Ojai, California .
The dependable caretakers Jonathan and Kendra Burroughs, only four days back from a trip to Meherabad/Meherazad, India, were the congenial hosts.
A DINNER FIT FOR ROYALTY
Tables and chairs were rented and arranged with white cloth, flowers, and candles, along with the plates and utensils were awaiting the arrival of the guests who were asked to bring a dish to complement the meal.
And from delicious turkey to vegetarian stuffing, candied yams, delicious mashed potatoes, homemade cranberry sauce, and homemade lemon, apple, and pumpkin pies, the arrangement was fit for a King or Queen!
After the meal Gigi Driessen led off with “her” thanks, and around the room one would stand and give thanks for “family being together,” or “a new job” or as Charlie Morton so movingly conveyed, “I am happy to be born at this time so as to experience this feeling of being one family with you all, thank you Beloved Baba” or Debra Ashe giving thanks with a soul-stirring rendition of “Precious Lord!”
A WALK TO BABA'S TREE
After dinner a walk to Baba’s Tree for Prayers and Arti, while the golden light of the late afternoon sun embraced all with a mystical glow.
Desert was like Prasad [a gift from God, usually edible] on this magical day, the feeling of love and togetherness was very strong, and about 20 guest remained well into the early night singing oldies and doing theater games orchestrated by Mitchell Rose, along with remembering Meher Baba with stories and games.
"WAITING FOR MEHER BABA"
One of the games was called “Waiting for Meher Baba.” Those playing were sitting outside on the west porch of the house in silence, and the first person to come into view from around the corner would be Baba disguised as that person…we waited and waited and suddenly Terry Adams arrived and said, “Where is the Gravy?” ….we all burst out into laughter, but Lois Jones replied, “Baba is the Real Gravy, and He Has poured His Love all over us today!”
