FOLLOW IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF AVATAR MEHER BABA

AVATAR MEHR BABA (under the umbrella) visits Meher Mount on August 2, 1956. Co-founder and caretaker Agnes Baron points out landmarks. (Archive photo.)Avatar Meher Baba’s day-long visit on August 2, 1956 was one of relaxation and intimacy.  Meher Baba said, “This afternoon you all have a chance to laugh and feel relaxed.  I come down to your level so that we can laugh and be free together, but don’t forget at the same time that I am the Highest of the High.”

Many people find that a visit to Meher Mount helps to reduce the day-to-day stresses and strains of modern living.  A day at Meher Mount can be relaxing and energizing, drawing on the “invisible fountain of energy” left by Meher Baba.

SIT UNDER BABA'S TREE

UNDER BABA'S TREE there are several benches where visitors often sit in quiet contemplation. (Nancy Pinkert photo.)At the point overlooking the Pacific Ocean is a large Coast Live Oak which co-founder and caretaker Agnes Baron always thought of as “Baba’s Tree.”

When Avatar Meher Baba visited in 1956, He “...went into the tent of leafy branches and sat down on the bed of dry leaves.  He signaled that no one else should sit down.  His eyes shone in the half-light, and He made a sign that He was happy.”

Then he rose swiftly and led the group back down the dusty trail.

Visitors enjoy spending time under Baba’s Tree in quiet contemplation, meditation, singing, or quietly sharing personal stories.

VISIT WHERE MEHER BABA GAVE DARSHAN

A VIEW OF THE DARSHAN FIREPLACE. In 1956, Meher Baba sat near this chimney in a house destroyed by fire in 1985. (Margaret Magnus photo.)In 1956, Meher Baba met with His followers and gave darshan (His blessing) in a house later destroyed by fire in 1985.  All that remains is the fireplace and chimney which now serves as a simple gathering place where many feel Meher Baba’s presence.
